Post subject: White Light is not Pure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Many path breaking discoveries in the yester years were made to disprove the then prevailing theories.
In the times of Aristotle, people believed that light was pure white and on interacting with matter it gets tainted and coloured. In the literal sense, when white light strikes an apple it is stained red and on striking a leaf it is tainted green!!!!!!!!!!
If it is of any consolation, even big thinkers like Robert Hook (one who invented microscopes) and Robert Boyle (who suggested the inverse relation between Pressure and Volume (P=1/v)) felt that way.
It was for Newton to show that the sunlight had all the colours in it and interaction with a substance will bring out a certain colour out of it which then becomes the colour of the object that we see.
In his " experimentum circus" Newton shone sun light on a prism and split it into its constituent colours "The spectrum- VIBGOYR". He then passed the split beams through another prism where it recombined to produce white light.
He had indeed demonstrated that white light is not the purest form of light!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post subject: Difference between CBB G-250 & R -250
|
CBB G -250
1. has greater sensitivity and detects proteins at concentrations of 1ng.
2. CBB G-250 (0.1% w/v) is used as a colloidal suspension in 10% ammonium slfate, 20% methanol and 2% phosphoric acid.
3. It only binds to proteins and cannot penetrate the gel matrix. This negates (avoids) the need to destain the gel, allows for controlled staining and confers a selectivity to the procedure. The background staining is very low.
CBB R-250
was originally developed as a dye to colour textiles. Used routinely to stain proteins on SDS-PAGE gels. It is dissolved in a solution containing 45% D H20, 45% methanol and 10% glacial acetic acid.
The acid methanol mix in both cases serves the purpose of a fixative. _________________ Harini Laxminarayan

If light is contaminated...what is it contaminated with? Some sort of free radical photon? or maybe a distortion/refraction by gases? I agree that what light we get here on the surface of Earth has been filtered by ozone and other elements, but what would we expect in pure light?
